contents, 1903-1998
Since its inception in 1903, the Journal of the Royal Army Medical Corps has not only been regarded as a premier source of clinical papers but also as a major source of historical information.
Many of the clinical papers are by eminent military doctors of the time and record what became ground-breaking work, especially connected with tropical diseases.
Several serving officers published papers of great historical importance detailing the medical arrangements of campaigns and wars from the English Civil War to the South African War. These papers provide the basis for further research.
Since its early days the Journal also published “Corps News” which gave details of personal occurences of members of the RAMC including the promotion and postings of officers, honours and awards, qualifications gained by senior NCOs of the Corps, casualties whilst on campaign and obituaries of serving officers.
The News also included much other valuable information which, from a historical viewpoint, is of great importance.
